Learn More About Red Hen Systems

“Red Hen is a very supportive company who stands strongly by their products.”

— Thermographer, Ontario, Canada

Remember the story of the Little Red Hen? She was a small, but resourceful chicken who found some wheat seeds, planted them, and watered them … when none of the other farm animals would help. Then she harvested her wheat, threshed it, and ground it into flour … all by herself. And finally, she baked some delicious bread, which she happily shared with her chicks.

Well, that little hen was the inspiration for Red Hen Systems. Grown in the field of agriculture, Red Hen Systems has produced an abundant harvest of products that serve a broad-spectrum of industries today.

Our History

In 1994, Neil Havermale and Ken Burgess started Red Hen Farming Systems as an OEM, developing in-field data collection and mapping software for agricultural applications. In 1997, they formed Red Hen Systems, Inc., which became an early leader in using GPS (Global Positioning System) data to sample and map field data, as well as process and monitor crop yields.

In 1998, Red Hen Systems developed a video mapping system to help crop scouts identify and locate weeds and pests in the field. This mapping system opened the door to a new frontier of uses for geo-referenced imagery-imagery that not only showed you WHERE something was, but WHAT it looked like WHEN.

Geo-referenced images embedded in maps suddenly increased the value of the mapped information and provided essential information to decision makers in the fields of agriculture and beyond.

Red Hen Systems Today

As the need for geo-referenced spatial images grew throughout all industries, so did Red Hen System's market focus. Today, Red Hen Systems provides technology to a wide variety of markets including GIS professionals, the military, natural resource and environmental management, transportation, and utilities … to name a few.

Our digital video recorders, still cameras, and GPS units let you collect geo-referenced video and still photos in the field. Our mapping software lets you digitally map photographs, video, and audio using GPS coordinates.

A picture's worth a thousand words … and by adding images to locations on a map, Red Hen technology makes it easier to use and share information with others.
